These Crispy Baked Jerk Potato Wedges are a simple side that is sure to bring your taste buds a spicy kick of flavor. With Jamaican seasonings present in every bite, these baked wedges make for the perfect summer go-to, whether it is at a BBQ, 4th of July, house party, during family meal time, or everything else in between.
What a week it has been last week. So much work to do throughout the week and I actually got a chance to try my hand at a few recipes in between it all.
Things are pretty busy for me this month and now that June is coming to a close and 4th of July is around the corner, I figured that this recipe would be a perfect addition to the bunch.
I don’t know about you but I enjoy spice. Maybe you can blame my Jamaican background, but I’m a lover of anything and everything spicy.
I remember growing up and watching my Grandfather whip together a traditional Jamaican meal in the kitchen and he never forgot to add the pepper.
And I mean the whole scot bonnet pepper. It brought such heat to his dish, but it was perfect.
Now, I find myself modeling the same things he often did in the kitchen, especially when it comes to spice. Does anyone else love a good spicy meal, too?
Whelp, if you’re like me, then you’ll surely enjoy these Hot + Spicy ‘Nine Mile’ Buffalo Chicken Wings, which are super spicy ya’ll, but you’ll love them!
Drenched in hot buffalo sauce with a hint of BBQ sauce and maple syrup to balance the heat, these wings remain a spicy staple inspired by Bob Marley and the Jamaican culture with bold uses of red pepper flakes + scotch bonnet peppers.
However, if you’re thinking about using these fries to make an entire meal, then you can feel inspired with these BBQ Loaded Chicken Taco Fries, which are beyond anything your fingers have ever held to your mouth.
It’s all of your favorite taco flavors coming together in one dish, including succulent shredded chicken, homemade potato wedges, cheese, corn, onion, tomatoes, jalapeños, avocado, and completely smothered in BBQ sauce (with a pinch of spice) and “lime crema”.
Either way, you’ll definitely enjoy these potato wedges.
Now, it’s time to jump straight into the recipe.
Let’s dig right into this recipe, shall we?
To start, preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
Rinse and pat dry each potato and cut lengthways into halves and then in halves lengthways again, and then one last time. You should have about 6-8 pieces of wedges when done. Repeat this step for all potatoes until done.
Meanwhile, in a small bowl, add sea salt, black pepper, garlic powder, dried thyme, paprika, dried parsley, red pepper flakes, jerk seasoning, and extra virgin olive oil, and whisk together until well combined.
Next, add potato wedges and seasoning mixture to a large bowl and massage seasoning unto potatoes thoroughly using both hands.
Add the seasoned potato wedges onto the baking sheet (skin side down so that both sides remain visible) and bake for 35-40 minutes, until wedges are crisp and fork inserts into potatoes easily.
Remove from oven and sprinkle with dried parsley and serve with a side of BBQ sauce or your own personal favorite!
Bon Appetit.
