Are y'all ready to feel like a kid again? We’re making Easy + Quick Strawberry Milk! Remembering how much we all loved Chocolate Oat Milk and Creamy Vanilla Sesame Milk last year, I thought it was time to celebrate my favorite berry in milk form. I do have a recipe for a Classic Dairy-Free Strawberry Milkshake already on the site BUT I wanted to whip up a refreshing homemade strawberry milk that's healthy + most importantly super easy to make with minimal ingredients.

What's great about this strawberry milk recipe is its total customizability! If almond milk isn't your thing or you have a nut allergy, feel free to swap it out for your fave dairy-free milk options like oat milk, cashew milk, or even coconut milk—they all complement the flavors beautifully! And if you prefer regular dairy milk, that works too! As for sweeteners, you can use whatever you prefer. While I opted for maple syrup, dates, agave or honey add a nice touch!

This easy + fun recipe brings back all those childhood feels and tastes way better than store-bought strawberry milk! It's fruity, subtly sweet, creamy, and beautifully pink, without any preservatives or artificial flavors. Plus, it's healthy and perfect for kids + adults alike. With just a few minutes and a quick blend, you're all set to enjoy!

How To Make Homemade Strawberry Jam

To switch things up a bit strawberry jam/preserve for your milk you'll need just four ingredients plus water.

  • 1-2 cups Strawberries. Fresh or frozen berries both work! I love using fresh to reduce the amount of water content.
  • ¼ cup Cane or coconut sugar. Either work well to make your jam. (You could also use monk fruit, agave or honey)
  • Lemon juice. This bit of acid helps bring out the natural sweetness in the fruit.
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract. Adds a warming under-note to the bright, fresh berry flavor. My favorite brand in terms of quality is Nielsen-Massey
  • 1 tablespoon Arrowroot starch. This is an excellent gluten-free thickener. It doesn't add any flavor but thickens up your purée to the perfect pourable consistency without turning it into jelly.

Make the puree by first combining all of the ingredients in a medium pot on the stove. Then simmer the berries until they break down, about 10 to 12 minutes. Next, add the arrowroot starch, whisk well, and watch as your puree thickens up beautifully. Finally, reduce the mixture for a few more minutes, then let it cool fully.

You can speed up the cooling by placing the puree in a bowl in the fridge. Stir it every few minutes to help it cool evenly.

Tips For The Best Strawberry Milk

Here are some tips to make the best + most creamiest vegan strawberry milk:

  • Use fresh strawberries---Ripe, fresh strawberries give the best flavor but you can also use frozen if you're in a pinch!
  • Sweetness is totally up to you! Whether it's maple syrup, honey, or dates, pick your favorite natural sweetener. Since strawberries can vary in sweetness, just tweak it until it's perfect for your taste buds!
  • Blend the strawberries + milk thoroughly (about 1-2 minutes) to achieve a smooth
  • If you want EXTRA smooth milk you can strain the milk through a strainer if it appears "seedy" from the strawberries for the best smoothness in consistency.

Homemade Vs Store Bought Strawberry Milk

This simple ingredient vegan strawberry milk recipe is definitely a staple in my fridge (My kid + husband LOVE it) and it's a great way to get more fruit into their diet.

I have to admit I was a little late to the homemade milk train, opting for my favorite go-to brands like Califia Farms and So Delicious instead. They're amazing, so why make my own, right? Haha. Whelp. I've since given in to the trend, and I must say that I'm glad I did. There are a lot of great reasons to opt for homemade strawberry milk.

BENEFITS OF MAKING YOUR OWN STRAWBERRY MILK

  • You have complete control over the ingredients + can customize it to your liking

Best Ways To Enjoy Strawberry Milk

While enjoying it fresh after blending is the obvious choice, I personally prefer mine chilled. Sometimes I add a few ice cubes afterward, but if the strawberries and milk were already in the fridge, it's cold enough as is. However, sipping it straight isn't the only option. Here are some fun ways to use Dairy-free Strawberry Milk:

How To Pick The BEST Strawberries

One of my favorite parts of this time of year is the fresh berries! But there is nothing worse than getting home and realizing you have accidentally brought squishy moldy strawberries! Here are a few tips for finding and buying the most delicious strawberries!

  • Consider buying locally grown strawberries for the freshest and most flavorful berries.
  • Choose strawberries that are bright red in color and avoid any that are pale, pinkish, or have white or green areas.
  • Look for berries with fresh, green leaves, and avoid any with brown, wilted, or moldy stems.
  • Smell the strawberries to ensure they have a sweet, fresh aroma.
  • Gently press the berries to check for firmness. They should be firm but not too hard or mushy.
  • Inspect the container for any signs of moisture or mold.

Strawberries are not only yummy, but they're also packed with healthy nutrients that can keep you feeling great. Head on over to my blog post Strawberry Season to learn more. Having a fridge full of fresh strawberries is the perfect excuse to get creative in the kitchen and whip up some delicious strawberry milk!
