What is A Detox?

Detoxification, often referred to as a "detox," is a process that involves assisting the body in getting rid of harmful substances and toxins that may accumulate over time due to factors such as diet, lifestyle, and environmental exposure.

The goal of a detox is to support the body's natural mechanisms for eliminating these unwanted substances, promoting a sense of rejuvenation, improved well-being, and overall health. The Green Tea Detox Shot is a way to support this through its natural cleansing properties.

This wholesome + healthy make-at-home detox juice recipe is:

  • Super easy to make
  • Immune boosting + rich in vitamins and minerals!
  • Perfectly sweet tart
  • Nourishing + SO refreshing!
  • Perfect for mornings or anytime you need a pick-me-up.
  • Ready in just 10 minutes!!
All ingredients chopped on a cutting board with a knife.

How To Make This Morning Glory Detox Juice

Simply toss all the ingredients into a high-powered blender and blend away at medium-high speed for about 2-3 minutes until everything turns into a smooth, vibrant concoction. If you're not a fan of the pulp, no worries! You can strain the juice before sipping.

Ingredients

JUICE:

  • Filtered water. I like to use Alkaline water, but regular filtered water works fine!
  • Carrots. Peeled + chopped
  • Gala + Granny Smith apples. Be sure to wash + peel if non-organic.
  • Navel oranges. Freshly-squeezed.
  • Ginger root. Peeled + roughly chopped.
  • Chia seeds. Chia seeds also help promote a feeling of fullness + aid in digestion.
  • Turmeric powder. You could also use fresh turmeric. It adds a warm, earthy flavor and vibrant color to the juice. Plus it has anti-inflammatory + antioxidant properties.
  • Pinch of black pepper. This activates turmerics' health properties!

Do I Need a Juicer?

No! You don't need a special juicer to make this juice. When you puree everything in a blender, you keep all of the fiber and nutrients from the fruits and vegetables in the juice, rather than straining them out. This makes the drink more filling, healthy, and cleansing!

Of course, if you don't like pulp in your orange, apple + carrot juice, simply strain it through a fine-mesh strainer before storing or serving.

Why Add Turmeric to Juice?

Believe me, adding turmeric to this detox juice recipe doesn’t change a thing in terms of compromising its taste. In fact, the slightly earthy flavor of this vibrant spice is delicious!

Turmeric has a compound called curcumin, which is a powerful source of anti-inflammatory antioxidants. However, the best way that our bodies can absorb all of these benefits is when we consume turmeric with black pepper. The compound in black pepper piperine is what helps us absorb curcumin, You can't taste the pepper much in this drink, but you get all of the health benefits.
