It’s the perfect vegetarian and weeknight meal for the entire family and it’s bursting with savoriness and flavor. Easy homemade crust, well seasoned, and made in just 30 short minutes.
Since we're all in quarantine together and most of us are looking for something new to eat and enjoy, I felt the need to share this pizza with you guys!
When it comes to making pizzas, it's become one of my latest favorite things to do at home as oppose to buying it from a pizza shop.
Don't get me wrong, I love a good slice of pizza from an authentic pizza ship here in NYC, however, there's just something about making your own!
It's such a fun family activity for everyone and I'm all for creating unique flavors by switching up the topping ingredients.
Usually, pizzas are topped with a traditional tomato sauce. And while I do the same for most pizzas, I definitely wanted to add a nice burst of flavor to go with the vegan meatballs.
I'm a great lover of BBQ sauce, however, Stubbs' Texas Sriracha sauce is such a nice twist between BBQ sauce with a big kick of sriracha. Therefore, it was a win, win.
This sauce comes with a beautiful blend of chili peppers, garlic, and cane sugar, which makes it spicy with a little bit of sweet.
Besides, who doesn't want a bit of ignorance with their pizza, right? Haha.
I'm hardly one who leans towards store-bought frozen versions of food, especially when it comes to vegetarian and vegan options.
I love making things from scratch, however, store-bought ingredients come in handy when time doesn't permit from scratch cooking or on those lazy days.
Personally, I really love Gardein's Classic Meatless meatballs when using a store-bought version because they taste great, have a nice texture, and are so easy to whip warm up.
When making my meatballs from scratch, I often love using quinoa and chickpea. From time to time, I'll use black beans or another veggie, but these Vegan Chickpea + Quinoa ‘Meatballs’ are my go-to!
Either way, you'll they'll be great on this pizza.
OK, so can I be honest and off topic for a sec?
Good.
If I'm honest, this entire global crisis and quarantine has put so much into perspective for me. While things have been chaotic with so many unpleasant changes and stressors, I'm truly grateful for the things that we often take for granted sometimes----like my health, family, business, and of course my relationship with God.
If you've been an avid reader of Orchids + Sweet Tea and have followed me for sometime, then you're aware that I'm pretty candid about my Faith and belief in Jesus.
I do know that everyone doesn't have the same beliefs and my talking about it is not to persuade anyone otherwise, however, I am proud of my Faith and it has most definitely helped me during this time.
Being in the epicenter of it all has been frightening to say the least, but I do see God's work in all of it and I'm leaning on His understanding of it and not my own.
Unfortunately, things won't always be pleasant, but He does promise that He's always with us and that's comfort enough because I know that it will end.
So while we all are facing this differently, yet similarly, I want to encourage someone to not give up or give in to this. God's got too much in store for you to give up now. Just lean on Him.
Alright, now back to this pizza.
Like many of my other pizzas on the blog, this one doesn't come short of flavor AT ALL.
This Best Homemade Jamaican Jerk Chicken Pizza is one of the best versions of taking a traditional staple—-jerk chicken and using it to re-create something phenomenal. It comes based in a spicy-sweet BBQ jerk sauce and loaded with mozzarella cheese, bell peppers, onions, kale, jerk chicken, and scotch bonnet pepper (for an extra kick of heat).
This Veggie Pizza is absolutely one of my favorite homemade pizzas to date. It comes loaded with mozzarella cheese, grape tomatoes, and broccoli and comes based with a crispy, fluffy whole wheat crust. It’s just that simple, yet it’s bursting with savoriness and flavor. Perfect for any lunch or dinner meal and is made in just 20 short minutes.
This Hawaiian BBQ Buffalo Chicken Pizza is the absolute best pizza I’ve ever made. It comes loaded with mozzarella cheese, Buffalo chicken, spinach, arugula, red onion, green bell pepper, tomato, BBQ sauce, and pineapple chunks. This pizza is sure to be a family favorite! Made in just 20 short minutes.
This Buckwheat Veggie Pizza with Chickpea + Kale Pesto Sauce is beyond words! It comes perfectly topped over a thick, soft crust + crunchy buckwheat crust, and topped with loads of veggies and a creamy, flavorful kale-spinach pesto sauce. The perfect dinner for the family on any given day. Entirely Vegan. Gluten-Free option available.
When it comes to pizza, I’m a TRUE die hard fan and there is nothing like the family-oriented Mama + Papa pizza shops! I wanted to keep the same momentum going with flavor (while still incorporating gluten-free) and I came up with this delicious Chicken Spinach + Broccoli Gluten-Free pizza.
When it comes to making the perfect pizza crust, it only really takes a FEW HACKS/TRICKS for this to happen.
However, it is imperative that you follow these exact steps every time, so that the perfect crust is achieved!
Here’s How:
There you have it—these tried and true tips/tricks will get your pizza coming out crisp and perfect every time! Do you have any additional tips that have worked for you besides these?
Now, let's dig right into this recipe, shall we?
Preheat your oven to 450 degrees Fahrenheit and be sure to use a great pizza pan to ensure that your crust is crispy and not soggy (**See Recipe notes for suggestion!**).
In a skillet, add the butter, BBQ sauce, sriracha sauce, maple syrup, salt, paprika, parsley, and vegan meatballs together on medium-high heat until it begins to bubble; stirring until well combine, about 4-5 minutes. The sauce should thicken and the meatballs should be slightly tender. Remove from heat.
Spoon a generous amount of the sauce over the top of the crust (homemade or store-bought---See Recipe Notes!**) in the center and spread it out thinly and sprinkle the mozzarella + parmesan cheeses, then gently place the meatballs atop everything.
Lightly brush the tops of the crust with extra virgin olive oil to ensure that it becomes a nice golden brown and sprinkle the top of pizza with dried parsley.
Gently transfer the pizza pie to the hot oven and bake for 15-20 minutes or so, until the cheese has melted (and becomes bubbly) and the crust is crispy and golden brown.
Once done, allow pizza to rest/cool for a few minutes (about 5 minutes!) so that the cheese sets before cutting into generous slices, using a pizza cutter.
Bon Appetit!
