What is A Mocktail?

So if you're sitting here thinking, what is a mocktail? Let me explain. A mocktail is like a party in a glass, minus the hangover. It's a delicious and refreshing non-alcoholic drink that's packed with all the flavor and complexity of a traditional cocktail but without any of alcohol.

Whether you're a designated driver, a health-conscious human, or just someone who wants to enjoy a delicious drink without the buzz, mocktails are the perfect solution.

How To Make Classic Mimosa Mocktails

For each mocktail, fill a flute glass halfway with crushed ice, pour ¼ cup of orange juice followed by ¼ cup of the simple syrup mixture and top remaining with the champagne alternative. Top with fresh mint leave sprigs and orange slices, if desired. Repeat until all mimosa mocktails are made!

Ingredients

The ingredients are quite simple, and apart from the Champagne alternative, which you can typically find in the beverage section of most grocery stores.

MIMOSA MOCKTAILS:

  • Orange juice. Freshly squeezed is best but you could also use natural OJ.
  • Cooled simple syrup. See below for how to make it.
  • Champagne alternative. For topping --- I love using Tost Beverages for sparkling.
  • Orange slices. For garnishin.
  • Mint leave sprigs. Optional.
  • Crushed or cubed ice. Classic mimosas are always nice and chilled!

How To Make Simple Syrup

Ingredients

  • Filtered water.
  • Organic cane sugar. This will melt down to become a syrup to sweeten the mimosas.

TO MAKE THE SIMPLE SYRUP

  • In a saucepan over medium-high heat, add together the water and sugar (stirring them to combine) and bring to a boil, about 1-2 minutes.
  • Reduce the heat to low and simmer for another 1-2 minutes or so. Remove from heat and let it cool completely.

Mimosa Mocktail Garnish Ideas

I love adding orange slices and mint sprigs, but there are so many options, especially if you want them to look more fancy! Here are some of my faves:

  • Strawberries or raspberries for a pop of color.
  • Edible flowers
  • Dried citrus
  • Citrus zest for added aroma + flavor.

What Is The Best Type Of Orange Juice To Use?

For me, I prefer squeezing my own fresh orange juice to ensure I know exactly what's in it. However, there are plenty of fantastic alternatives available, so there's no harm in opting for bottled juice to skip the squeezing step. Just make sure to check that it's 100% pure orange juice.

Can I Add Alcohol?

Yes definitely! If you'd like to spruce things up with alcohol, feel free to add 1 ounce of whiskey, rum, vodka, champagne, etc. For a more "cocktail-feel" without the alcohol, I love using Ritual Zero Proof alcohol alternatives

Classic Mimosa Mocktails Q + A's

How long will the simple syrup last?

If you keep this sugar syrup in the fridge tightly sealed, it will last a month! Keep it handy and add it to all your fave drinks!

Can I make more mimosa mocktails?

Absolutely! This recipe makes 2 servings, however, to make additional mocktails, simply double or triple ingredients, depending on need.

Can I customize the ratio of Champagne alternative to orange juice?

Absolutely! Feel free to adjust the ratio based on your preference for a stronger or lighter citrus flavor.
