Sip this refreshing Blackberry Lime Mocktail sweetened with agave and garnished with fresh fruit for a summery and bright drink.
Blackberries are an underappreciated fruit, if you ask me. Strawberries and blueberries seem to get a lot of attention, but blackberries are every bit as delicious, versatile good for you. I love using them for baking recipes like my Vegan Chocolate Pancakes with Blackberries.
But they work just as well in a refreshing mocktail with bright lime juice! You'll love this hydrating summery beverage.
Ingredients for Blackberry Lime Mocktails
This recipe takes 5 minutes to make. All you need is:
Fresh blackberries. Use organic and/or local berries if possible!
Fresh lime. You can also use lemon juice if you prefer.
Agave. Feel free to use more or less sweetener to suit your taste.
For serving, use plenty of ice and your favorite garnishes. I like fresh herbs, a lime wedge, and more berries.
You can prepare a big pitcher of blackberry lime mocktails for a crowd. Just increase the ingredients proportionally. Wait to add the ice until you're ready to serve so the flavor isn't diluted.
Health Benefits of Blackberries
Aside from being a healthy way to hydrate, this blackberry mocktail also packs some important health benefits. Blackberries, and berries in general, are considered superfoods because they are:
High in powerful antioxidants called polyphenols
Rich in dietary fiber, which supports healthy digestion
Full of vitamin C, for a healthy immune system and glowing skin
What to Serve with This Mocktail
You can easily pair this blackberry drink with a meal if you're planning a dinner party. Here's some menu inspiration that pairs well with this mocktail:
In a bowl, add the fresh blackberries and lime juice, mulling (crushing) everything together until fruit are fully broken down. Add in the water and Agave and stir until well combined combined. NOTE: Add additional sweetener depending on sweetness desired.
To Make Mocktails: Add crushed ice to glass(es), Add 3-4 Tbsps of mulled blackberries to bottom of glass, followed by ½ cup of mocktail liquid mixture until glasses are ¾ filled. For additional garnish, add fresh blackberries, sliced lime, and rosemary. Repeat for every serving.
Sip and Enjoy!
Tips & Tricks
SWEETENER: Instead of Agave syrup, you can substitute with pure maple syrup or organic cane sugar as a syrup (sugar + water boiled over the stove top).
