Healthy Detox Smoothies for the New Year

Healthy Detox Smoothies for the New Year is how I've decided to kick off my 2018. I believe that it’s super important to detoxify your body ever so often, especially with all the variety of things we tend to eat on a daily basis (good + bad). A little cleanse and “rest” for our digestive system does the body wonders, trust me!

While many people drink Detox Smoothies by strictly eliminating calories and eating only foods and/or liquids that detoxify the body for a set amount of time; I chose to drink my detox smoothies in the space of breakfast to help start the day off right and allow my body to do a refresh and reset!

Happy New Year, Ya'll.

I'm back and ready more than ever to make this a really great year for Orchids + Sweet Tea and all of you! I hope that you all had a really great holiday season! Lately, it's been frigidly cold here in NYC (under 20 degrees to be exact, EVERYDAY!), so I've been huddled in a lot of warm places! Haha.

Now that the Holiday season has officially ended and all of the Christmas trees, nutcrackers figurines (and other Christmas-y things), and lights have come down (at least in my house anyway), it's time to get things in full throttle to ensure that the remaining year aligns with great new possibilities. To start, I've chosen to tackle my health + lifestyle by changing my eating habits and exercising! Yes, as daunting as exercising can be, I've come to realize that it's a necessary component in your overall health regardless of weight. This year I plan to be ultimately FIT. However, when it comes to my eating habit, I'm really going to work hard on cutting back on those sweets. Uggh, how hard that's going to be. Haha. While I make a majority of my sweet treats at home, I do want to test other dishes and flavors this year (especially for Orchids + Sweet Tea), so this is a good challenge. Plus, I want my little guy to become more acquainted with his veggies and less sweet things, so all in all, this becomes a real domino effect for my entire household.

Thus far, I've completed my own personal 3-Day Detox Smoothies challenge and it was great! I enjoyed it all and plan to do this at least once a month. The funny thing is, before having my little guy, I LOVED smoothies! My Husband and I drank it almost everyday for breakfast along with a light bagel or muffin of some sort. However, since giving birth, my taste buds have TOTALLY changed and I more so enjoy Cappuccinos and Frappuccinos now. That could also be because I need more of a slight "pick me up" for all my early mornings and late nights working, blogging, and doing mommy duties! Haha. Who knows!

Be sure to check out another great way to detoxify your body--- Infused Water! See Recipe on WATER: STRAWBERRY, PEACH, + MANGO INFUSED also on Orchids + Sweet Tea.

  1. Hi Shanika, thank you soo much for the healthy tips and recipes. I started a 3 day smoothie detox from 4th June 2020 to 6th June 2020. I enjoyed the smoothies not only with my husband but surprisingly with my 3 daughters; 7yrs and 9 as well. I'm feeling so much better and decided to make a consecutive 3 day detox every week; Monday to Wednesday. My sleep routine improved, I wake up more refreshed and energetic for the whole day. This evening I'll be doing bathe detox of bath salt, apple cider vinegar and baking soda. 🙂

    Thank you,
    Pulane

    • Hi Pulane! I'm so happy to hear that your detoxes have been going well and that your family enjoyed the smoothies as well! It's definitely amazing when everyone is able to join in on the fun! 🙂 Detoxing definitely has great benefits once done correctly and I'm so glad that everything has improved for you! I look forward to hearing how your detox bathe goes!
