When it comes to food, I think that we can all agree that flavor is the most important thing! Whether you are a lover of spice, sweet, savory, salty, or just plain Jane flavors, the important thing is that there is some ounce of flavor present in every dish. So, to kick off on #TastefulTuesdays, I have rounded up 7 of my Best of Food Recipes (plus a bonus sweet treat recipe!)!
Although I am not tied to one specific diet, I must admit that I am a proud believer in trying many different things while still keeping the notion of eating healthy. I remember a few years ago when I wasn’t a big cooker! In fact, I rarely cooked and my husband and I enjoyed takeout A LOT! The funny thing is that my real love for cooking wasn’t birthed until after bring pregnant with my little guy. That is when I began educating myself on healthier foods and on being more aware of what I consumed daily. I mean, there was a little human-being that was a recipient to whatever I did or eat, right?
Anyway, since then, I finally embraced my new food journey in eating healthier than I was before. That meant not eating the most unhealthiest pizza that ever existed or consuming Chinese food on a daily basis, or even eating store-bought breakfast sandwiches. This meant being in control of the foods that I ate by simply being the maker so that I could be more aware of the ingredients used. After realizing this, I began to cook more often and it soon became a love of mine. I am a self-taught cook, so in the beginning I had a ton of “error + trial” moments. Haha. Luckily, cooking has since gotten easier and I am no longer afraid of experimenting and trying more complex ways of making food. It has become my art.
With that being said, I have rounded up a few of my past food recipe posts for #TastefulTuesdays (every Tuesday where any type of Food recipe is posted on Orchids + Sweet Tea!), which range from spicy to savory. These recipes will work for any foodie (like me!) who enjoy real flavor and boldness in every dish!
7 Best of Food Recipes:
This recipe is by far one of my all time favorites! The concept pretty much requires that you add a layer of ingredients, which include: chicken, tomatoes, red bell pepper, green bell pepper, jalapeños, cheese (and MORE cheese!), nacho chips, black beans, and wallah! Plus, you can feel free to add a dollop of sour cream on top if you choose and you’ve got yourself a real meal.
Chickpea, which I’ve fallen in love with, is the main star of this dish in my opinion. Adding a bit of tomato flavor to the chickpea was a great move! This sauce is super creamy (especially because of the coconut milk used) and you can make it as thick or thin as you’d like. Simply adjust the time pureed in the blender. The longer you blend, the more thin the sauce becomes.
Trust me, you’ll fall in love with this Maple glaze the next time you make Salmon! It’s just sheer PERFECTION! It adds a nice sweetness to your Salmon without over-powering any other sauces that may be used. For the sauce, I tried to find the PERFECT one, because there just isn’t a burger without the right sauce. Since this is fish, the regular burger sauces just wouldn’t be a great fit in my opinion. That’s why I chose to make what I call a Garlic Aioli for my Salmon burgers and it was so GOOD! I felt like I could literally eat the sauce with a spoon by itself. Haha! I used actual garlic cloves and not the powdered version because you really get to taste the strong garlic flavor with the cloves.
This recipe showcases the lightness and flavor that Quinoa adds! This type of grain is definitely much lighter than rice and it’s packed with tons of protein! There’s also fiber, Iron, and a load of other good stuff! Simply add your tomatoes, lettuce, sour cream, and cheese (Oh & Avocado if you love it!) and you got yourself a nice, easy meal. Hearty and healthy!
These extra Crispy Buffalo Cauliflower bites are a guaranteed showstopper! At first glance, these beauties truly remind you of buffalo boneless chicken (and trust me, they taste just as good, if not better!). However, they aren’t! Just know that your taste buds won’t be able to tell the difference either! I’ve made them extra crispy, so that the buffalo sauce won’t leave you feeling like their soggy or just not right. Plus, if you’re a previous (or current) meat-lover like me, you’ll be able to thoroughly enjoy the added crispiness!
Are you a Vegetarian looking for a great dish to add to your day? Or are you simply looking for a healthy dish to substitute in between being a carnivore? This recipe is for you! I’ve learned that texture adds a nice feel to any veggie dish and it sort of “tricks” your taste buds into thinking that you’re having something as pleasurable as meat! Haha! n this Veggie Brown Rice stir-fry, I chose to use red cabbage, kale, red bell pepper, carrots, and zucchini. I also made my own stir-fry sauce, which was Ah-Mazing!
When it comes to pizza, I’m a TRUE die hard fan! Well, as for this recipe, I wanted to keep the same momentum going with flavor (while still incorporating gluten-free) and I came up with this delicious Chicken Spinach + Broccoli Gluten-Free pizza. This was my first time making pizza and while I was afraid that it would be hard, it was SUPER EASY, Ya’ll.
And to end things off sweetly, I’ve decided to add a BONUS recipe for this list:
I SCREAM, YOU SCREAM, WE ALL SCREAM FOR ICE CREAM!
Funny thing is, I didn’t have to spend any money on a ice cream machine and it still came out really creamy and smooth like good ice cream would! Yes! A time-saver, money-saver, and taste-bud pleaser!
That’s all for my 7 Best of Food Recipes Roundup! These recipes are sure to leave you satisfied!
